The Hild family finds itself today with the honor of being the current stewards of Anderson’s Neck. Their shared love of nature brought them to “The Neck” where they have taken on the incredible challenge to revive the estate as a functioning oyster farm.

David Larter

Dave “Peg Leg” Larter was first introduced to us as a journalist when he told our story in a feature article for Richmond BizSense entitled “Sticking His Neck Out.” Ever since writing that article, Dave has been enamored with our work at Anderson’s Neck.  We are now thrilled to have him as a volunteer member of the ANOC team.

The sweet talkin’ son of a preacher man, Mr. Larter is truly in his element when spreading the word about our mission to Save the Bay One Oyster at a Time (see video below for some Dusty Springfield retro goodness).  That conservation ethic is what we now affectionately refer to as the Gospel According to Oysters.

Given the old adage that The Pen is Mightier than the Sword, we are fortunate to have Mr. Larter’s journalistic talents on our side. Let’s just hope those writing skills prevail in any future run-ins with those pesky Chesapeake Bay oyster pirates we occasionally see on the York River…
