So how do you transport a large quantity of oysters to restaurants in an environmentally friendly yet temperature controlled environment throughout the year? You buy a refrigerated truck with solar tie-in, that’s how.

This road machine is designed to not only transport oysters, but it doubles as our our walk in cooler as well. And best of all, we had an electrical receptacle installed so we can power the refrigeration unit on the truck with our off-grid solar system while it is cooling oysters at the farm. That means, we burn only minimal fossil fuels while bringing our oysters to market. While tying the truck into solar added some up-front expense, we felt it was the right thing to do for the environment and would pay us back in reduced diesel fuel charges over time.

Now we have a great truck that has the added benefit of a traveling billboard. If you see us on the road, give us a beep to let us know you saw us. In the mean time, we’ll Keep on Shuckin’.
